FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE NUTRITION

Annika Rockwell, RD, LN

As a Licensed Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian with over 28 years of experience, I specialize in integrative nutrition, functional medicine, and Medical Nutrition Therapy to uncover and treat the root causes of your health conditions.

A significant focus of my practice is guiding women through perimenopause and post-menopause. If you are struggling with stubborn weight gain, low energy, brain fog, anxiety, sleep disruptions, or sudden gut health changes in your 40s and 50s, please know this: your symptoms can radically improve with the right plan.

My Approach 🥦🍓💪🔬
I partner with you to co-create personalized, evidence-based blueprints that integrate nutrition, targeted supplements, strategic exercise, and sustainable lifestyle shifts. Our collaborative work includes:

Data-Driven Personalization: Tailoring recommendations to your unique health history, symptoms, advanced lab testing, and real-time biometric data.

Root-Cause Investigation: Digging deep to find the underlying "why" behind your symptoms rather than just masking them.

Empowered Healing: Guiding you through a collaborative, supportive journey where you are an active participant.

Lifelong Tools: Equipping you with the practical knowledge, resources, and confidence to maintain and enhance your long-term well-being.

My Personal Journey 🤸
My passion for functional medicine isn't just professional—it’s deeply personal. Over the last 30 years, I have successfully navigated and overcome a complex array of my own chronic health challenges, including:
- Autoimmune thyroid disease
- Blood sugar imbalances and prediabetes
- Chronic fatigue paired with adrenal and cortisol dysfunction
- Oxalate sensitivity, systemic inflammation, and kidney stones
- Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS)
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), fibroids, and severe menstrual cycle irregularities
- Perimenopausal weight gain, anxiety, and depression

By identifying and addressing the root causes of my own symptoms, I entirely transformed my health and reclaimed my vitality. This first-hand experience drives my unwavering commitment to helping you do the exact same using a food-as-medicine approach.

Beyond the Clinic (My Free Time) 🧘💃✨
When I’m not deep in the data designing client nutrition programs, I practice what I preach by staying active and connected to my community. You can usually find me:

- Pushing my limits at OrangeTheory strength classes a few days a week
- Tearing up the dance floor at Danz Insanity or challenging myself in Salsa classes
- Finding center at Midtown Hot Yoga or logging miles around Lake Johnson in my weighted vest
- Volunteering and connecting with friends at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh

Let me help you become the healthiest, most vibrant version of yourself, free from debilitating symptoms and ready to live life to the absolute fullest! 🎆🎉
